This course is designed to provide students with a better understanding of how to properly cite and reference sources of information being used in reports and papers. It is a continuation of what has previously been taught in COMM 110.
The goal of the course is to have students capable of demonstrating how to properly reference cited materials.
By the end of this course students should be able to:
- Know why it is important to cite references in an academic paper
- Understand how to cite sources in the text.
- Practice how to write in-text citations.
- Understand how to write a reference page.
- Practice how to write references on a reference page.
The course has been divided into three modules, to allow students to better focus on each learning outcome.
In the first module students will gain a clear understanding of the importance of citing references in an academic paper.
In the second module students will learn how to write in-text citations within their papers.
In the third module students will learn how to write a reference page at the end of their papers.
